Dr. Murray founded the RSM Physical Therapy at Asclepeion Center for Body Mind Healing in 2000. The purpose of the Center is to provide a safe place, a refuge and place of healing the whole person by blending the best aspects of physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual healing arts.
RSM Physical Therapy is an important component of this center.
The name “Asclepeion” is a nod to the healing temples of ancient Greece, which were called asclepeions and were sacred to the god Asclepius, the Greek god of healing. Patient-pilgrims would come to these healing temples to receive spiritual and/or physical treatments or healing.
The famous Hippocratic Oath, to which medical physicians still swear today, begins with an invocation “To Apollo, the physician, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panaceia…“
As an integrative practice, we strive to dwell ever more deeply in the tradition of honoring both Asclepius, the Greek god of healing, and that of Hippocrates, the Greek physician, father of medicine. Our aim is to wisely blend all potential aids to bring people ailing in body, mind, and spirit back to optimum health.
